Exciting improvements coming to your Centre!
We are delighted to share news of a significant investment into the health & fitness facilities at Princess Royal Sports Arena where we will be investing close to £200,000.
What is happening?
We’ve placed orders with fitness equipment providers Life Fitness and Physical Company to completely replace all of the equipment in the gym at PRSA.
There will be a comprehensive mix of cardio machines, fixed resistance machines, free weights and functional training equipment. Particular highlights will include:
- Treadmills, Cross-Trainers and Bikes with a range of different consoles including 16 inch “SE4” touch screens with full internet connectivity and a wide range of immersive on-demand workouts
- Top of the range “Insignia” fixed resistance equipment
- An extensive range of cable resistance equipment from the “Signature” range including an 8 stack multi-jungle with multiple row & pulldown attachments, as well as a replacement dual adjustable pulley & cable crossover
- A group of Hammer Strength plate loaded strength machines including Horizontal Press, Shoulder Press, Row, Leg Press and Glute Drive.
- Dual squat racks with integrated deadlifting platforms
- Olympic flat bench press
- Dumbbells up to 50kg
- Hyperextension bench
- A whole selection of new functional training equipment including kettlebells, balls, bands, mats and much more…
What other changes are being made?
As part of the project, the flooring throughout the gym will also be replaced, at which point we will create a new dedicated stretch/functional space. We will repurpose the existing ‘Hiit zone’ into a Hammer Strength plate loaded strength & cable area to better meet customer demand for this type of training.
There have been changes to the decor already and further improvements planned.
What are the proposed dates?
The project is scheduled to be completed in early May, with provisional dates as follows:
- W/C 20 April - existing gym equipment will be moved into the sports hall to create a temporary gym space for the remainder of the project. To enable members to still use the gym.
- W/C 27 April - flooring works & decor commence
- W/C 4 May - new gym equipment delivered and installed
- 8 May - latest date that the gym will reopen and the temporary gym will close
We are working hard with the various contractors to confirm dates as soon as possible. If you Follow us on our social media pages, you’ll be amongst the first to know.
Can I still use the Centre?
Yes! You can still use the centre as normal throughout the project.
We will endeavor to keep the disruption to an absolute minimum throughout the project and will be creating a temporary gym in the sports hall so that your training can continue unaffected.
The Group Exercise programme will continue to operate.
How will I know how to use the new equipment?
All members wishing to use the new equipment will be able to book in for a gym induction. This will be a 1:1 session with a member of staff who will spend time showing you the equipment and making sure you’re confident and competent using it.
You can book an induction or refresher session on the Leisure Centre mobile app or at reception.
What will happen to my membership?
There will be no changes to your existing membership. All memberships will be unaffected by this project and payments will continue as per normal.
