Our week-long intensive lessons help children progress faster through Swim Wales’ Waves 1 - 7, promoting Safer, Smarter, and Stronger swimming.

Designed for school-aged children, our swimming lessons are divided into progressive Waves.
Each Wave encourages young swimmers to develop their skills, building both confidence and competence in the water.

Our baby and toddler swimming lessons are designed for children aged 3 months to 4 years old. These classes help build water confidence in a fun and supportive environment. An adult must accompany the child in the water during each session.

Swimability is a specialised swimming session for children with additional learning needs and disabilities. With small class sizes of up to four swimmers and an adult in the water, lessons provide a safe, supportive environment to build confidence and lifelong water safety skills. An adult is required to be in the water with the child.

Junior Advanced Swimming sessions help participants further develop their aquatic skills and competency, building on the core Learn to Swim Wales 1 - 7 for more advanced swimming techniques.

The Rookie Lifeguard course teaches essential rescue techniques, first aid, and helps build on existing swimming skills, preparing children for more advanced water safety challenges.
At Penarth Leisure Centre, we are proud to partner with Swim Wales’ Learn to Swim Programme. Our curriculum covers all 7 primary Waves of swimming, incorporating essential training and knowledge checks. This comprehensive approach guarantees that key water safety skills are integrated at every level of learning.
