We are delighted to share news of a significant upgrade to your gym at Penarth Leisure Centre. We will be investing over £150,000 which will include the installation of strength training equipment from EGYM.
We are thrilled to introduce EGYM to our facility - a state-of-the-art ecosystem designed to take the guesswork out of your workout. This is the smarter way to train!
Whether you are a fitness veteran or just starting your journey, EGYM removes the intimidation factor by automatically adjusting every machine to your body’s unique proportions and fitness level. The equipment remembers your seat settings, range of motion, and ideal weight resistance, ensuring every rep is safe, effective, and perfectly tailored to you.
EGYM allows you to see your progress in real-time. You can track your strength gains and flexibility as they improve, and you'll have a personalized training plan that evolves as you get stronger. It’s like having a personal trainer every step of the way, helping you reach your goals faster while having fun.
We will be installing a total of 10 EGYM machines which will allow our members to complete a full body workout on the EGYM equipment, and therefore benefit from the smart technology and the tracking of strength gains for all major muscle groups.
The above machines will also be joined by an EGYM Smart Assessment Fitness Hub, which will help with the onboarding of members into the EGYM ecosystem, fitness testing, flexibility assessments and will link to the existing Boditrax body composition scanner. This will allow for full and thorough benchmarking and fitness tracking over a number of key metrics.

The project is scheduled to take place during April 2026, with the exact dates due to be confirmed nearer the time. We are working hard with the various contractors to confirm dates asap. If you follow us on social media you’ll be amongst the first to know.
Yes! You can still use the majority of the Centre as normal. This includes exercise classes, sports hall, swimming pool, etc…
You can also still use the gym. Only sections of the gym will be closed at certain points as we remove the existing strength training equipment and have the new equipment installed.
We will endeavor to keep as much of the gym open as possible and disruption to a minimum.
This project will not affect the cardio or free weight areas of the gym.
All members wishing to use the new EGYM equipment will need to download the dedicated mobile app which will be available on Google Play and on the App Store soon. Once downloaded, members will need to register for an account. The app will be used to access the equipment and track progress over time.
Staff will be available on the gym floor to help members register on the app and access the equipment for the first time, as well as completing their first fitness assessments on the EGYM Fitness Hub.
There will be no changes to your membership. All memberships will be unaffected by this project and payments will continue as per normal.
