Future Developments at Lord Butler Fitness and Leisure Centre

Exciting news! We are making a substantial investment of nearly £80,000 to enhance the health and fitness facilities at Lord Butler Fitness & Leisure Centre. This investment will create a new dedicated strength room along with additional equipment in the main gym. The works will be completed by early May with limited disruption during the works.

What is happening? 

 Squash Court 3 is being converted into a dedicated strength room. This expansion will provide an additional 11 stations and will include the following equipment:

• Dumbbell rack up to 50kg*
• Dual Adjustable Pulley
• Plate Loaded Shoulder Press*
• Plate Loaded Row*
• Plate Loaded Iso Lateral Horizontal Press*
• Plate Loaded Linear Leg Press* 
• Multi adjustable benches x 3
• Half Rack*
• Olympic Flat Bench

*Equipment marked with an asterix is being relocated from upstairs to the new strength room
 

What other changes are being made? 

We're not stopping there—the existing gym is also getting an upgrade with the addition of highly requested equipment, including:

• Insignia Series Abdominal
• Insignia Assist Dip Chin
• Insignia Glute Bridge 
• Aspire Cross Trainer x2
• Hammer Strength Dumbells 2-2-kg
   

When will this be happening? 

Friday 8 May - the gym will remain open but there may be some disruption whilst the kit is being relocated and installed.
Saturday 9 May - New dedicated strength room will be open to the public
 

Can I still use the Centre?

Yes! You can still use the Centre as normal throughout the project. We will endeavor to keep the disruption to an absolute minimum throughout the project. 
 

How will I know how to use the new equipment?

All members wishing to use the new equipment will be able to book in for a gym induction. This will be a 1:1 or group  session with a member of staff who will spend time showing you the equipment and making sure you’re confident and competent using it.

You can book an induction or refresher session on the Leisure Centre mobile app or at Reception.
 

What will happen to my membership?

There will be no changes to your existing membership. All memberships will be unaffected by this project and payments will continue as per normal.
 

How will I know what's going on?

We will send out emails with full details, notification via the Leisure Centre mobile app and provide updates on our social media channels.

This page will also be kept up to date throughout the project in the lead up and throughout.
