Future Developments at Southwell Leisure Centre

We are delighted to announce a significant investment of over £100,000 into the fitness facilities at Southwell Leisure Centre.
 

What is happening?

We have placed orders with fitness equipment providers Life Fitness and Physical Company to replace the gym’s cardio equipment, create a dedicated functional training area, and strategically introduce additional equipment to enhance the workout experience in the weights room.

Particular highlights will include:

• Treadmills, Cross-Trainers, Bikes and Stairmills with a range of different consoles including 24inch and 16 inch “SE4” touch screens with full internet connectivity and a wide range of immersive on-demand workouts.
• A 4 stack cable multi-jungle with row, pulldown and adjustable cable column attachments.
• HIIT cardio machines such as a Concept 2 Ski Erg and Hammer Strength HD Air Bike.
• A whole selection of new functional training equipment including kettlebells, balls, bands, mats and much more.
   

What other changes are being made?

As part of the project, the gym flooring will be fully replaced. A new dedicated stretching and functional training area will also be created, featuring a sledge track and HIIT cardio machines to support members training for functional fitness competitions.

What are the proposed dates of refurb?

The project is scheduled for completion in late May, with provisional dates to be confirmed shortly.

We are working closely with our contractors to finalise the schedule and will share confirmed dates as soon as possible. If you follow us on our social media channels, you’ll be among the first to receive updates.
 

Can I still use the Centre?

Yes, you can still use the centre throughout the project. We will endeavour to keep disruption to an absolute minimum; however, there may be certain days when areas of the gym are temporarily closed due to flooring works.

The Group Exercise programme will continue to operate as normal.

How will I know how to use the new equipment?

Members wishing to use the new equipment will be able to book a gym induction. This will be a one-to-one session with a member of staff, who will guide you through the equipment and ensure you feel confident using it.

You can book an induction or refresher session via the Leisure Centre app or at the reception desk.
 

What will happen to my membership?

There will be no changes to your existing membership. All memberships will be unaffected by this project and payments will continue as per normal.

How will I know what’s going on?

We will share full details via email, provide notifications through the Leisure Centre app, and post regular updates on our social media channels.
