Future Developments at Southwell Leisure Centre

We are delighted to share news of a significant investment into the fitness facilities at Southwell Leisure Centre where we will be investing over £100,000.

What is happening?

We’ve placed orders with fitness equipment providers Life Fitness and Physical Company to replace the cardio equipment in the gym, create a dedicated functional area and strategically add additional equipment that will improve the workout experience in the weights room.

Particular highlights will include:

  • Treadmills, Cross-Trainers, Bikes and Stairmills with a range of different consoles including 24inch and 16 inch “SE4” touch screens with full internet connectivity and a wide range of immersive on-demand workouts.
  • A 4 stack cable multi-jungle with row, pulldown and adjustable cable column attachments.
  • HIIT cardio machines such as a Concept 2 Ski Erg and Hammer Strength HD Air Bike.
  • A whole selection of new functional training equipment including kettlebells, balls, bands, mats and much more.

What other changes are being made?

As part of the project, the flooring throughout the gym will also be replaced. We will be creating a new dedicated stretch & functional space incorporating a sledge track and hiit cardio machines for those members training towards a functional fitness competition.

What are the proposed dates of refurb?

You can still use the centre throughout the project, although sections of the gym will be closed as the flooring works are completed in phases, starting from Friday 22 May.

The details of each phase can be found below (dates are inclusive):

  • Cardio area closed - Friday 22 May - Friday 5 June
  • Resistance area closed - Thursday 28 May - Saturday 30 May
  • Functional area closed - Monday 1 June - Wednesday 3 June
  • Free weights area - Open throughout the project

The gym will fully reopen Saturday 6 June.

We will endeavor to keep the disruption to an absolute minimum throughout the project, with all other areas of the centre being unaffected.

The Group Exercise programme will continue to operate as normal.

Members are encouraged to use the gym at Bingham Leisure Centre, should they wish to continue with their exercise routine.

Can I still use the Centre?

Yes! You can still use the centre throughout the project. We will endeavor to keep the disruption to an absolute minimum but there will unfortunately be certain days when areas of the gym are out of bounds due to flooring works.

The Group Exercise programme will continue to operate as normal.

How will I know how to use the new equipment?

All members wishing to use the new equipment will be able to book in for a gym induction. This will be a 1:1 session with a member of staff who will spend time showing you the equipment and making sure you’re confident and competent using it.

You can book an induction or refresher session on the Leisure Centre mobile app or at reception.

What will happen to my membership?

There will be no changes to your existing membership. All memberships will be unaffected by this project and payments will continue as per normal.

How will I know what’s going on?

We will send out emails with full details, notification via the Leisure Centre mobile app and provide updates on our social media channels.

This FAQ’s page will also be kept up to date throughout the project.in the lead up to the project and throughout.
