Future Developments at Poulton Health and Fitness Centre

We are delighted to share news of a significant investment into the fitness facilities at Poulton Health and Fitness Centre where we will be investing over £100,000.

What is happening? 

We’ve placed orders with fitness equipment providers Life Fitness and Physical Company to replace the cardio equipment in the gym, provide a much more substantial space for strength training and create a dedicated stretch/functional training area. All of this combined will significantly improve the workout experience at the centre.

Particular highlights will include:

• Treadmills, Cross-Trainers, Bikes and Stairmills with a range of different consoles including 16 inch “SE4” touch screens with full internet connectivity and a wide range of immersive on-demand workouts.
• A 4 stack cable multi-jungle with row, pulldown and adjustable cable column attachments, as well as a separate dual adjustable pulley.
• Life Fitness Smith Machine, Olympic flat bench press, dumbbells, adjustable benches.
• Hammer Strength half rack and deadlifting platform
• HIIT cardio machines such as a Concept 2 Ski Erg and Hammer Strength HD Air Bike.
• The existing pin-loaded resistance machines will be retained, but will be fully reupholstered and serviced.

What other changes are being made? 

As part of the project, the flooring throughout the gym will also be replaced. In the free weights area we will be installing robust 40mm rubber tiles. We will also be creating a new dedicated turfed stretch & functional space with hiit cardio machines for those members training towards a functional fitness competition. 

When will this be happening? 

The project is scheduled to commence on Friday 15 May with the extraction of the existing equipment.
The flooring works will be completed throughout w/c 18 May.
The new equipment is due for delivery and installation Tuesday 26 & Wednesday 27 May.
Your new gym will reopen on Thursday 28 May.

Can I still use the Centre?

The gym will be completely closed from Friday 15th to Wednesday 27th May inclusive. However, you can still use the rest of the centre throughout the project. We will endeavor to keep the disruption to an absolute minimum. Members wanting to use a gym can use the sister sites at Thornton, Fleetwood or Garstang as part of their membership.

How will I know how to use the new equipment?

All members wishing to use the new equipment will be able to book in for a gym induction. This will be a 1:1 session with a member of staff who will spend time showing you the equipment and making sure you’re confident and competent using it.

You can book an induction or refresher session on the App or at Reception.

What will happen to my membership?

There will be no changes to your existing membership. All memberships will be unaffected by this project and payments will continue as per normal.

How will I know what's going on?

We will send out emails with full details, notification via the Leisure Centre mobile app and provide updates on our social media channels.
