Disability aquatics programme

We run lessons for babies, toddlers and pre-school children from 3 months to 4 years old.

Our baby swim classes are ideal for giving young children confidence in the water.

Throughout January to May 2024, we are offering free SEND Atlantis Splash sessions and free public swimming for 30 children with disabilities, special educational needs and ASD (and their parent/ carer) at Crosby Leisure Centre.

Each child will have access to monthly sensory-friendly SEND atlantis splash sessions and unlimited use of the public swim sessions.

How to Book

To take part in the disability swim programme, registration is required Please complete the online registration form and a member of the team will be in touch. Numbers are limited, so places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Due to swimming pool capacity, each public swim or SEND atlantis booking will be for one parent/ carer for each participant.

what are SEND Atlantis splash sessions?

To provide a fun and enjoyable experience, the SEND Atlantis Splash sessions will provide:

No background music
No announcements (unless required for health & safety)
MECC and disability trained staff
Additional lifeguards
Lifeguard whistle used only in an emergency
Free carer/ parent access

All sessions will take place in the main swimming pool. A pool hoist is available for public swim sessions. Due to swimming pool capacity, each public swim booking will be for one parent/carer + one participant.

January - Saturday 20th 18:00 to 18:50
February - Tuesday 13th 12:00 to 12:50
March - Saturday 23rd 18:00 to 18:50
April - Tuesday 9th 12:00 to 12:50
May - Tuesday 28th 12:00 to 12:50

Public swim sessions

Wednesdays 18:00 to 18:55
Fridays 14:00 to 14:55 and 18:00 to 18:55
Saturday 13:00 to 14:55
Sunday 10:00 to 12:55

Participant criteria

Please provide evidence of all of the below prior to the first session. Participants must be:

A resident of Sefton
In receipt of disability living allowance
Aged between 5- 16 years
Accompanied by a parent, carer or responsible adult at all time

Terms & Conditions

First come first served (30 children aged 5 years - 16 years and their parents/carers)
Participant criteria must be met and confirmed with site prior to any sessions
Booking required- first come first served basis
Parent/ carer discretion on completion of the Atlantis splash course
Up to 6 months free from sign up date (between 01/01/24- 31/05/24)
One parent/ carer and one participant per weekly public swim booking
Each participant must be accompanied in the water by their parent/ carer at all times
All participants will need to adhere to the standard swimming pool admission rules
Sessions will be chargeable from 1st June 2024
