UPDATED 26 JUNE 2024

Exciting improvements coming to your club!

Exciting news - we will be opening earlier on the weekends starting from Saturday 6th July, the club will open at 07:30 instead of 08:00.

We are excited to be investing over £400,000 in a gym refurbishment, including new equipment, flooring, decor, energy efficient lighting and the introduction of a dedicated indoor cycling studio. The works will also include the refurbishment of some of the wet side area, group exercise studio and later in the year the male and female changing rooms and shower area. We will be installing brand new, state of the art, Life Fitness equipment and delivering many other improvements including:

  • Cardio equipment with 16 inch touch screen consoles, full connectivity and a wide range of immersive on-demand workouts
  • Hammer Strength plate loaded strength equipment
  • Insignia range pin selectorized resistance equipment
  • New functional training area including new equipment and turf track
  • New layout with replacement flooring, lighting and decoration
  • New dedicated indoor cycling studio with virtual and instructor class capability
  • Refurbished Group Exercise Studio with bladerunner flooring and enhances lighting scheme
  • Improved reception area and furniture
  • Poolside refurbishment to showers, tiling, decoration and lighting

The works will be phased across July and August with the club remaining open throughout with an exact schedule to follow in the coming weeks.

What are the proposed plans and dates of refurbishment?

  • July to August - Gym, Reception, Studio and Poolside refurbishment.
  • December - Changing Room & Shower refurbishment.

TIMELINE UPDATES

  • From week commencing 22nd July access to the changing rooms and poolside will change to via the family changing room fire exit door. Located behind the Marquee. The temporary corridor from the Gym to changing rooms will no longer be available to allow contractors to complete the required works in this area.
  • Members can still gain access to the Temporary Gym via the entrance at the back of the car park (studio exit), where our temporary reception is located. Bookings must be made via the app, members can book 7 days from 6am.
  • All group exercise classes are taking place in the Marquee.
  • The new gym and spin studio will be open from Saturday 10th August.
  • The refurbished group exercise studio will be open from Saturday 31st August.

What does the temporary gym look like?

How do I book to come to the temporary gym?

The sessions will be bookable via the App and available to book for members from July 2nd.

Will my swimming or swimming lessons be affected?

Every effort is being made to avoid disruption to members schedules. We may need to close poolside whilst the tiling works take place during the middle of August and will communicate exact details to those affected closer to the time. Any cancelled lessons will be rescheduled. Poolside works are due to start from Monday 12th August. We kindly request you spectate lessons on the poolside from the seated area with only one spectator per swimmer.

Where will spectators go whilst reception is being refurbished?

Between approximately Monday 8th July-Wednesday 31st July - reception will be closed. We kindly request you spectate lessons on the poolside from the seated area with only one spectator per swimmer. However we would encourage spectators to wait in the family change or their vehicles to avoid excess people and distraction on the poolside.

Can I use another site in the meantime?

We appreciate the site is not on our doorstep but our closest sister site is Woughton Leisure Centre in Milton Keynes where gym, studio and swim usage can be arranged for members who desire this option, further details will follow on how this will be managed.

Can I get inducted on the new equipment?

Yes absolutely! If you would like a physical induction on the new equipment you can contact the club here to request this. Alternatively, new equipment will have QR codes which can be scanned to provide you with a step-by-step video tutorial.

How will I know what’s going on?

We will be sending emails to our members as well as updating our social media channels and in centre posters updating you with the latest news leading up to and throughout the works. If you have any questions, please ask our reception team.

Other Information:

Membership fees will continue to be collected throughout the progress of the works as we continue to ensure all services possible are available. We hope you are as excited by the developments and improvements as we are and will bear with us during the disruption and work. As a goodwill gesture all current members will be excluded from any tariff increases during the remainder of 2024 and any changes will only affect new members.
