World Orienteering Day

Rushcliffe Arena & Nottinghamshire Orienteering Club


Teaming up with Nottinghamshire Orienteering club, Rushcliffe Arena and Lex Leisure celebrated World Orienteering day with a time challenge trail around the centre and local area.

The aim of the event was to Increase the visibility and accessibility of orienteering to young people and local residents and to get more new people involved in orienteering.

Starting off at the Centre local residents and competitors work their way through the streets of West Bridgford finding their way to various landmarks and points, finding as many as possible in a 45 minute period.

Hilary Palmer from Nottinghamshire Orienteering club said ‘Linking up and working with Rushcliffe Arena was fantastic, our club members thought it was a superb venue to be able to use as our start/finish point, especially the ones from other areas of the city/county!’


Robert Linthwaite, Centre Manager at Rushcliffe Arena said ‘Helping Communities to be happier and healthier is our purpose and working with local sports club provides Lex Leisure the opportunity to achieve this and invite new people to come and experience what we can offer at our centre in the heart of the local community.’

During the course of the event 34 people took part with the eventual winner being the quickest person finding all 25 checkpoints and everyone having fun finding their way with the map.
