Meet Our Apprentices
Tom joined the Business System team in our Worcester head office at the end of 2017. He is currently working as a finance assistant carrying out various tasks such as assisting with the membership direct debit runs, creating income reports and analysis, helping maintain the Legend Club Management System.
Having spotted the apprenticeship on a job site Tom said it sounded very interesting and so applied. He later received a call from Lifetime training who were able to provide him with more information about the qualifications he could gain and they also helped him edit his CV, resulting in him having a successful interview!
Tom says when he left school he wanted to try something different as he felt he had done the same thing for 13 years at school. He wanted to gain experience within the working world whilst also gaining qualifications at the same time and so apprenticeship seemed like the perfect option for him.
"I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship to someone as not only do you gain qualifications and valuable experience and qualifications you also earn a bit of money at the same time which is a welcome bonus"
“Being so young, there was a lot of support, people offer advice and you shadow other employees. My tutor would always be available to help if I needed it.”
Under the scheme, Chelsea got to experience all sides of life in one of our leisure centres; from helping to set up courts and prepare the facilities for customers, to working as a lifeguard
or helping out on reception. This variety enabled her to see how she wanted to progress and reaffirmed her commitment to working in the leisure sector.
After passing her apprenticeship in 2013, Chelsea became a full-time recreation assistant at the centre, and is now working as a Relief Duty Manager.
“To be a Relief Duty Manager is a massive step at my age. It’s been a really good experience and I’ve had a lot of opportunities. It’s a big responsibility to run a leisure centre at my age but I want to be a full time Duty Manager one day.”
We currently have a partnership with Lifetime training providers for our apprenticeship programmes. Click on the image below to visit their website directly.
