About Fencing

FFencing is a unique and classical competitive sport. Using replica swords, the aim is to score points by hitting one another whilst moving back and forth on an area called a piste. Despite the nature of the sport it is actually a safe and fun combat sport due to the face masks, gloves, and protective jackets, making for an enjoyable and inclusive activity for all.

Fencing is a quick and exciting sport using explosive energy to increase reaction time, coordination, and leg strength. The sport is competitive and engaging, giving you the skills to think clearly and anticipate moves. Fencing can have huge social benefits, allowing you to bring friends along and make new ones too!

What Should I Wear?

We recommend that you wear comfortable footwear (such as non-marking court trainers), and light, comfortable sportswear to maximise flexibility and to ensure that you are kept cool. Your facemasks, gloves and jackets will be provided for you. We would also strongly advise that you bring plenty of water to keep hydrated during your session.
