Parkwood Leisure is proud to announce that the Children’s Hospice UK is their nominated charity for 2012.
Parkwood Leisure operates 85 leisure facilities around the country and its staff and customers are always keen and generous in supporting a local fundraiser. Children's Hospices UK is the national charity that gives voice and support to all local children's hospice services. Therefore local efforts will make a huge local difference and this can be duplicated nationally through all Parkwood Leisure centres.
In May 2011, many Parkwood Leisure facilities supported ‘Super Hero Week’. Each participating leisure centre raised money for their local hospice, through a centrally co-ordinated campaign. In 2010 a team of 11 from head office, completed the ‘Three Peaks Challenge’.
Maria Harrison, Marketing and Sales Manager at Parkwood Leisure head office, explains “Parkwood Leisure is committed to combining our efforts in supporting the Children’s Hospices UK. We want to successfully raise funds, awareness and community spirit and have a lot of fun doing so”.
Children's hospice services offer a lifeline to seriously ill children and young people and their families, helping ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances to cope with the challenges of daily life. They provide a range of flexible, practical and free support at home and in the hospice to the entire family, often over many years and at any stage of the child's illness. Children’s Hospices UK is the national charity that supports all children’s hospice services by raising funds to ensure they are sustainable; campaigning and lobbying governments to ensure their voice is heard; helping their care staff to continue to be at the cutting edge of children’s hospice care and making everyone aware of their vital work.
Julian Hall, Director of Fundraising for Children’s Hospices UK, said: “We are delighted to be Parkwood’s nominated charity. Their support enables children’s hospice services to continue to help children and young people who are not expected to reach adulthood and their families deal with the emotional and physical challenges they face and make the most of life.”
