On the 26th April 2009, Parkwood Leisure Limited took over the management of Woodgreen Leisure Centre from Cherwell District Council. Parkwood Leisure have been running Bicester, Kidlington and Spiceball Leisure Centres since April 2008 and are managing the new Spiceball development which is scheduled to open in late 2009/early 2010.
Councillor George Reynolds, Cherwell District Council's portfolio holder for community, health and environment, commented: “It's good news that Parkwood Leisure will be running this much-loved leisure centre. The council has been very impressed with their operations at our other leisure centres in the district. It means a new lease of life for Woodgreen and brings it into line with the other leisure centres managed by Parkwood Leisure on behalf of the council.
"With revamped centres at Kidlington and Bicester and the brand new Spiceball Leisure Centre in Banbury well underway, it's clear that the council is investing for the long term future of sports and leisure in Cherwell. And with the Woodgreen open air swimming pool due to reopen this summer with the financial support of Banbury Town Council residents will soon be enjoying facilities that rank with the best in the country."
The confirmed opening date for the open air pool is 30th July. Please call (01295) 262742 for session information.
