'Take to the Streets' activities

Olympic Gold Medalist, James Cracknell, urges people in Wycombe to ‘take to the streets’

Now spring is here, and the days are getting longer and warmer, it’s time to get out, ‘take to the streets’ and give sport or exercise a go. For anyone looking to train for a forthcoming sports event, requiring help to develop their fitness and stamina or perhaps looking for ways of making their dream of running the London Marathon a reality, Reactivate Bucks (the campaign that connects people to hundreds of sports and activities across the county) is here to help.

James Cracknell, Double Olympic Gold Medallist, is supporting Reactivate Bucks in its aim to help local people get one step nearer to achieving their personal fitness and exercise goals. James explains: “Regardless of what you’re training for, you need lots of support and encouragement from the right people, in the right environment. Take to the Streets activities really offer this and, what’s more, can cater for all abilities, cost very little and, importantly, put the emphasis on having fun.”

Reactivate Bucks Take to the Streets activities are for both men and women and take place across the county at a variety of times and venues to fit in with busy lifestyles. Local mum-of-two Jo Lothian, who runs one of the Take to the Streets jogging clubs, urges everyone to find the odd hour to give Take to the Streets a go. “Getting out and about in the fresh air and just being able to appreciate the fact you can jog or run is the best feeling ever.”

Take to the Street activities give everyone the chance to build their skills and stamina in walking, swimming, cycling and lots more. With events such as Race for Life taking place in Wycombe on 13 June, there’s never been a better time to give it a go! Anyone from a seasoned athlete looking to improve their performance, to an individual needing encouragement to take part in a public sports event or sports activity for the first time, will find what they need with Reactivate Bucks.

In Wycombe there’s a range of Reactivate Bucks activities taking place throughout April including Return to Sport courses in netball and sailing. For those keen to take part in a public event the VC10 Cycle Club are running a cycle event on the 18 April in Princess Risborough and Race for Life comes to The Rye on 13 June. For those looking for a more relaxed pace Walk Wycombe launches this month, helping local people get fit while they explore lovely places.

Full details on these and other ways to get fit, feel healthier and have fun are all available on: www.reactivatebucks.org.
