Parkwood Leisure in conjunction with the London Borough of Bexley and the ASA governing body have secured funding to offer Free Swimming lessons to those over the age of 11.
There is no catch the lessons are 100% free and the only requirement that the public need to fulfil is that they must be completely non-swimmers. The lessons will either be 1 hour or 1-¼ hours in length depending on whether you wish to join a one week crash course or want to learn to swim more slowly over a 6 week period.
Swimming is claimed by many scientists to be the best form of exercise a human can do, therefore if your struggling to lose weight or have been unsuccessful in the past at losing weight then swimming is for you. Or if you are over 60 and suffer from arthritis then swimming is the exercise for you as the water supports the joints and allows free movement. It is also a great family activity that is cheap and healthy. So if you’re a nervous adult or afraid of water or never learnt to swim then now is your chance to learn to swim fro free.
Learners will be taught by our expert instructors who are friendly and have years for experience in teaching people of all ages and abilities to swim. If you are over 60 or aged between 11 and 16 now is a perfect time to learn how to swim. As the government backed Free Swimming scheme is operating until March 2011 so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to practice your newly learnt skill for free.
As the lessons are in groups you will be surrounded by people of the same ability and with this social aspect of it you’ll come away with a new skill and new friends.
