In an effort to inspire local residents to get fit during the world cup, Parkwood Leisure offered anybody who joined their gyms from 15th May- 30th June the opportunity to win a state-of-the-art widescreen TV and surround sound system to watch the world cup final on.
The initiative was a great success, inspiring over 4000 people to take the plunge and start exercising. The winning entry was drawn on 1st July by Liz Terry, Editor of The Leisure Media Company.
The lucky winner of the TV was Shaun Kelly, a new customer at Crook Log Leisure Centre in Bexleyheath. Mr Kelly was delighted with both his prize and the progress he has made since using the gym, commenting “I decided to join the gym in June having not exercised for 20 years. I was nervous about exercising again but I have been really enjoying it. I feel more energetic and alert and have also lost half a stone. Receiving the phone call to say I had won the TV was the icing on the cake!”
Mr Kelly was presented with his prize by Ian Thompson, Centre Manager on 7th July 2010, in time to watch the World Cup final this Sunday.
