Balanceability is the UK's first and only accredited 'learn to cycle' programme for children aged 2½ to 6 years old. Using 'Balance Bikes', a lightweight, pedal-less child's bike which facilitates balance and propulsion, children run along whilst seated, push off the ground to create forward movement and use a combination of their feet- and hand-operated brakes to slow down and stop safely. There are two levels, both with courses which last 6 weeks.
Cycling is a great activity to maintain a healthy lifestyle and Balanceability is a fantastic way to get your child starting their life on two wheels. Whilst riding, children are taught the fundamentals of balance, core stability, gross and fine motor skills and the essential confidence that comes with the process of learning a new life skill. Delivered by our qualified instructors, each six week course will allow children to develop confidence, spatial awareness, dynamic balance and the ability to ride a bike without stabilisers.
What Should I Wear?
Dependent on the weather and the facilities which are available at your centre, the course may take place outside or inside. As a result, we advise that you get in touch with the centre and have your child bring clothing suitable for the weather conditions. The Balance Bikes for your child will be provided, however, your child will need to bring their own helmet along.
