    Get fit for Christmas with a beginners body weight workout

     

    With the summer break long behind us, the countdown to the Christmas break (96 days to be exact) is fast approaching! Get yourself ready for the party season by sticking to these tips..

     

    Set achievable goals

    You know what works for you, do not set yourself up to fail, set yourself up to succeed. Set a realistic goal that you can stick too. Small changes are easier to make and will help you to see a difference quickly, so whether it is giving up sugar in your hot drink or walking for an extra ten minutes, commit to it and watch the progress happen. When you are ready, introduce some extra changes to help you to stay on the right track to your desired goal. Make an appointment with the gym staff and ask for a bespoke programme that is right for you.

     

    Don’t forget to move

    Being active, whether you are dancing, taking part in a group exercise class, running on the treadmill or the outdoor track, just keep moving. Our leisure centres have a wide range of classes to choose from, and if you are not sure what is right for you, speak to one of the qualified fitness staff who will be able to help you on your way to moving more and moving right.

     

    A workout you can do anywhere

    Try three sets of each these with a thirty second rest between each set

     

    20 body weight squats.

    10 push ups.

    20 walking lunges.

    15 second plank.

    30 jumping Jacks.
